About the Piece: ‘Inspired Curls’ was such a joyful piece for me to create. I have always been a strong advocate of Black women boldly wearing their natural hair. The versatile beauty found in natural, Afrocentric hair continues to captivate and confuse the world. But I believe it’s important to create more images in support of Black women, Black hair styles, and Black people. I also believe it’s very important to create things that bring a smile to your face. For me, this illustration checks both boxes! Through these alluringly feminine curls, paired with the sharpness of a razor’s trim her beauty stands out in any crowd. She moves through the world with beauty and poise and effortlessly radiates calm, inner strength. Her essence is an inspiration and a serves a reminder that Black hair is beautiful.
