WRITER IN RESIDENCE
Hèléne Boudreau, Esperanto Gallery & Studios first Writer-in-Residence begins today!
Today we are thrilled to welcome of its first Writer in Residence, Markham-based Hèléne Boudreau, who takes up her residency today in the gallery.
Hélène Boudreau grew up on an island surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean and now writes fiction and non-fiction for kids from her land-locked home in Markham, Ontario. Her books are available in bookstores and libraries across Canada and around the world and have been translated into six languages.
She has never time-travelled, or ridden a horse in the ocean, or spotted a mermaid in the wild, but she writes about all these things (and honestly believes mermaids are just as plausible as sea horses, flying fish, or electric eels).
Her picture book, I Dare You Not to Yawn, is a Parents’ Choice Award winner and a SCBWI Crystal Kite Award winner and is a favourite.
Her tween novel, Real Mermaids Don’t Wear Toe Rings is a Crystal Kite Award Finalist and the whole series is just perfect.
She will be working on several exciting new projects in the space and look out for livestream author talks, events and updates from her in the Esperanto Gallery space. Her residency will be ongoing with no set end date.
